Our instructors are passionate and experienced individuals that have training in a variety sports. Each instructor completes training upon being hired that ranges from age-appropriate instruction, safety protocols, and positive coaching techniques. Our coaches are certified in first aid, Concussion Awareness and CPR, and some hold coaching licenses with a sports governing body (e.g. USSF for Soccer) or have collegiate sports coaching experience.
What is the structure of a typical class?
Classes typically feature a warm-up, skill building drills, individual and team competitions, and scrimmages. Coaches utilize a wide range of curricilums that are tailored to each class and each session depending on the skill level and age of the players in the program.
What is your refund or credit policy if we miss a class or a session?
If your child misses a class due to illness, schedule conflicts, or other personal reasons, we are happy to look at a comparable class to do a make-up program if available. We are able to edit and prorate the season fee for class prior to registration if register after the start date, but are only able to provide account credits for withdrawal from the program with most of our partner facilities. We do not provide cash refunds for any reason. Refunds are only issued if management decides to cancel a program that participants have already paid and registered for.
What steps do you take to ensure the safety of the participants?
Your child's safety is our top priority! We use several methods to ensure the participants in our program are safe, including background checks for all staff and coaches, ongoing training for safety and injury prevention each session, strict supervision and low coach-to-kid ratios in classes and camps. Our staff are all first aid and CPR certified, and our management team perform regular equipment checks to ensure all gear is in safe and proper working condition.

What makes your programs different from other youth sports organizations?
At Hot Shots Sports, we focus on more than just skill development—we prioritize creating a positive and inclusive environment where every child can thrive. Our programs emphasize character-building, teamwork, and confidence, all while teaching the fundamentals of the sport. Our coaches are trained not only in the sport itself, but also in how to work with young athletes of all skill levels and personalities. We’re passionate about helping kids grow both on and off the field.
How do you group participants—by age, skill level, or both?
Participants are typically grouped by age to ensure appropriate social and physical development. However, for more advanced or specialized programs, we may also consider skill level to provide the best learning experience for all athletes. Our staff continually evaluates participants to make sure they’re challenged appropriately and having fun.
Can parents stay and watch the sessions?
Yes! Parents are welcome to stay and watch most sessions. We often find that younger participants feel more comfortable knowing a parent is nearby. That said, we do encourage a little space to let kids gain independence and confidence. In some cases, especially for older age groups or camp formats, we may recommend a drop-off model. We’ll always communicate this clearly in advance.
Do you offer private or small group training sessions?
Yes, we offer both private and small group training options for athletes who want more individualized attention or are working toward specific goals. These sessions are led by our experienced coaches and can be customized to focus on particular skills or areas of development. Contact us to learn more about availability and pricing.
Are there any multi-class or sibling discounts available?
We do offer discounts for families enrolling multiple children or signing up for multiple classes in a season. Discount details can vary by program and location, so we recommend checking the registration page or contacting us directly for current offers.
What if my child turns the appropiate age in the middle of the session can I still sign her/him up?
Typically, this is a joint decision between us and our partner facility. Most of the time, if it's really close, we will let the child in!
Can my child try a class and see if he/she likes it first?
Yes, you can try a class to see if it's a good fit. Refunds are typically up to the park district, but if a class isn't the right fit, we're usually glad to refund or provide an account credit for remaining classes!
What happens if a class is canceled due to weather or facility issues?
We typically try notify you as soon as possible via email. Makeup dates are always attempted to be scheduled. In the event they can't you would be pro rated for one class of session fee.
How many kids do you need to add a second coach?
We aim for an 7 to 1 player to coach ratio, but also have different coach to player ratios based on the age of the participants and program concept. All programs require two coaches when there are ten or more players in attendance. Sometimes, we will have two coaches for less kids depending on the sport.
